There is nothing wrong with the factory 4bbl set up on the car right now and it runs just fine.I have had a factory cast iron (late 50's early 60's???) dual quad set up for a 383 and have thought of putting it on my 64 300 for a while now.Now that the Charger is running and driving I thought it would look cool on the 67.The problem is,I don't have the linkage, fuel lines, air cleaner(s) or carbs for that intake.I do have plenty of other carbs, just not sure how to rig up the linkage or what kit I could order.Would I need another throttle cable?Does anyone make a universal fuel/linkage kit? What do you guys think about this set up?Oh yeah,I'm going to donate one of my 6 packs for the 440 in my dad's 66 Charger so that's why I'm thinking of putting a multi carb intake on mine.

edelbrock or ar engineering make a linkage and lokar make nice throttle cable you can cut to size

Lotsa questions in that paragraph. Anyway, I cannot preach it enough that ONE good carburetor will out perform two everytime on the street.......BUT two looks a lot better than one.

If I was in your position, I would not mess around with old BS used carburetors. If it's a fairly mild combo, I would opt for two of the Edelbrock style carburetors. Probably 500 CFM. This way, you'll have less time in the swap and tuning everything from junk *** used rebuilt carburetors. Now, for linkage, I would go with some sort of progressive. You don't want eight barrels openin up all at once on a street car. That would suck. Just get the air cleaners you think look best. I wouldn not recommend K&N or the like. Just stick with a factory type paper element. The so called "performance" filters usually let in more dirt, since they allow more air flow.

I would'nt do the dual quad thing.
Been there and done that.
Runs, Performs and way better drivability all the way around with a 4bbl
Just my 2 cents.

i have the dual quad, and i am not disagreeing with anyone here as i havent even driven mine yet,
but moparmagazine did dyno tests and pulls with a dual quad vs a single quad and they got better hp and better throttle response from the dual quad they said the only downfall was the tuning.

rusty i have mine setup to open all 8 at once, i will probably kill myself this way huh?

I got dual quads on my 66 383 Charger....I'm running the stock throttle cable. Made my own baseplate out of aluminum so I could run stock Fram CA137 air cleaner element.

for some reason, I cannot upload pictures...not sure why

Problem is that running 1250 CFM down a basically 383 is that it's a tad over-carbed.

You have the factory 343 HP 383 set up and it can work OK if tuned properly. The original setup is progressive like a street hemi and I believe uses the same linkage. The intake is a divided plenum single plane and that is better than a full single plane for the street but not as good as a dual plane. The smaller the carbs the better and I'd look for a set of nice 9400 AFB's or a matched pair of the 273 power pack carbs. Buick 340 AFB's are also a good choice and both the MoPar and Buick carbs are similar to what was originally on that 343 HP engine. For the throttle and trans linkage you will just have to improvise. Forget finding a set of factory air cleaners so just put on something that fits. The dual quad hemi air cleaner won't fit because the carbs are not spaced the same (ask me how I know). You might be able to modify and use the hemi fuel line kit but I'd just get a 5/16" tubing bender and some steel line and just make my own.

yea..it's a factory cast iron 343hp intake, 1961 I think. And yes, Hemi base plate will not fit. I have a tubing cutter & bender, made my own lines from fuel pump to carbs. I also have my carbs linked together, not progressive linkage. I didn't have to worry about trans kick down linkage, both my Chargers are 4-spd cars. Carb size I have is pair of 625's on it now. I really never drive the car much....and the set-up has been on there so long, most everyone in Washington knows what's under the hood

I'll post pics, but I guess I got too many in there already, I'm trying to figure out how to delete the older pics to make room for the new ones

I got one to load...it's my front fender badge I made for the car

guess I'll post via Photobucket for now...

carbs, then home made baseplate, then Fram air filter, then air cleaner top....but before anybody says anything...the baseplate does not extend to the lip of air cleaner top, so it's all open underneath like the unsilenced styles

Hey, that's pretty cool! Looks like a 383 2 BBL at first glance. Going with the 1:1 linkage may help if you have fuel distribution issues.

That's a very cool looking set up!I don't want to build a full fledge race car out of this 67.Just a cool looking cruiser with a bunch of wow under the hood like A833Wing has.
