Can anyone help me out with a measurement on their dual snorkel air cleaner. Im goin to modify a dual snorkel air cleaner to put on my engine. My engine builder put an aftermarket carb on my engine and dont want it to hit the hood. Just wondering if anyone can give me a measurement from a fixed point on their big block to the top of the air cleaner. Its a 1968 air cleaner. Any help would be great. Thanks

The only '68 big block with dual snorkel air cleaner I have is a 383 Magnum. From the top of the valve cover to the top of the pie tin measures just a little over 7 1/2 inches.

Stock valve covers?

Different ones have different heights.

Thanks..Good point. I measured mine from stock valve covers to the top of the air cleaner and its 7 3/4 inches. Just wondering if its enough hood clearance. Dont wanna final weld it yet

What carb do you have?

I have a dual snorkel air cleaner too that won't fit on my Holley.

Quickfuel carb. I cut the bottom of the aircleaner out and rolled a round piece of sheetmetal same size as my carb opening and made it trim to fit once i get a measurement

Yes, stock valve covers. And just to clarify, this 383 I'm referring to was manufactured in 1968 for my 1969 Super Bee built in August of 1968 at the LA Plant.
