I'm seeing conflicting answers in my research. Is the 4spd hump the same for an E body as a 71-74 B body? AMD says they're the same, others say not. Ultimately, I'm searching for a B body hump.

Bucket seat one is same as E-body. Bench seat uses a different shifter.

Bench seat vs. bucket seat and console vs. non console will affect which hump you need !

2 different humps for 71-4B
E body type for Buckets with or without console
B body type for bench seat and buckets with buddy seat.

Isn’t the same floor pan for both E and B bodies? If so, why the difference? What about E bodies with bench?

Pretty sure you could not get a manual trans in a bench seat E body. I would never say you couldn't as someone would pop up with the one and only but I have never seen one and I have been an E body guy since 74. Bench seat always (IME) meant AT on the column.

The floor pans appear to be very close if not the same and I suspect you could use the 71-74 B body bench seat hump and put a manual into a bench seat E body with the mid length PG although the dash on an E body does come back into the compartment more so that might be an issue (might not be).

Also, I do not think the bench seat hump is the same as those on say a 68-70 B body. I had one from my 71 as I went to the E body/bucket seat hump (still am going to use the mid length shifter with a buddy seat) and I compared it to a 70 RR hump that I have for my RR, they are somewhat different but I cannot say how much as I chopped up the one for my Charger for another application. I could be wrong on this but I remember that I felt that they were definitely not the same.

Per what I know front floor pan is the same. Not rears of course thought.

Yes, the front floor pan is the same between B and E for 71-4. Also 70 E is a bit different than 71-up
Yes, 71-4 B bench seat hump is different than 68-70

Was the hump the same for both b body bench seat 4 speed and 3 speed manual cars?
I assume you are asking about 71-74 B body? I don't know if a 3spd was an option in a bench seat car or not but if it was then it would have used the same hump. I believe that I have seen a 3pd in a bucket seat car and it uses the rear hump same as a 4spd with buckets.

I’m pretty sure have seen on the web 318 RRs manuals with bench. Supodselly they are 3 speeds… right?

Actually yes to both.
For example, the 71 RR came stock with a 383, 3-spd and bench seat so the bench seat hump was used.
The 71 Cuda came stock with a 383, 3-spd and bucket seat so the bucket seat hump was used.
Most of the time a 4-spd or an auto was optioned but the 3-spd was standard equipment for a code N car.

Yes my 74 was originally stock with 318 bench 3 speed manual on the floor. It now has a 4 speed 440. That’s why I asked the question above if the 3 speed and 4 speed humps were the same. When you ordered the RR option that’s what you started with and you could change seats, transmission, motor and more from there. Why somebody would get the RR option and not change the 318 is beyond me. My car wasn’t even optioned with a tachometer. You would think with a manual car, the factory would make a tachometer standard. The only option I can see that was ordered on my car was a sunroof. Unfortunately the fender tag was removed.

RR Fan Dan - did you have to use the infamous "dog bone" bracket to position the shifter box correctly?
I had to do that on my 71 Runner as mine has the hump for the bench seat set-up even tho I have buckets.
Way back when i ordered the hump from AMD the only one available was for the bench seat set-up.
They now have both styles.

How long ago was that?

When I needed it, all AMD made was the bucket seat hump.

I had to cut out (that was fun) a factory bench hump from a donor car.

What about the 4 speed pedals for the 1971-74 B body - are they the same as a E body ? Thanks from a friend.....
