I've posted about this topic before and have received great advice. One of the issues aside from seeking to obtain shift points at higher rpm was the earlier TF's don't downshift unless having pedal floored. After reading some old discussion on another site about the earlier 727, it's mentioned there have been modifications to create a downshift capability at 1/2 or 3/4 throttle. Decided to post here again in case anyone knows how this would be done if this is not fake news. Thanks.

Stop messin around and get a manual reverse valve body!

That kit should work, but I wonder about “the why”. We have ‘old-school’ engine&trans, so, if u want it just ‘floor it’!

Hmm...this kit looks interesting; some tricks with VB mating with a later TF that somehow will still allow using the cable shift. Wonder if anyone on the forum has done this installation? Yeah oldbee, I can suck it up and just hammer it to engage downshift; but if it can be setup not to open the secondary's sounds appealing to me as an old geezer.
Watch the “geezer” comments Ron,lol. I can understand the part-throttle downshift because that’s the way all the 4&6cyl wimp engines are set up now for economy. You have to ‘retune’ your brain for the ‘old way’ when displacement & rear gears lower than 2.70 ruled the highway!

Car seems sluggish off the line after complete engine redo with all sorts of HP upgrades and wow too much money, could be the new TC is a mistake or some necessary mating wasn't done or done right. Anyway this got me more nitpicking with the shift points getting some advice from our fellow members on gov modification and finding info on increasing line pressure...along the way got me pondering the tricks to modifying the downshift. Now finding a later TF VB and good instructions I'll be dangerous. Hope to hear if anyone on the forum has done this install for advice.

If anyone has installed the downshift mod kit in an earlier cable shift 727 trans that photon440 has in his post above would be great to hear from ya. Thanks!

I almost want to try it in my 62. Part throttle shift is a nice feature to have.

Yeah so far no body has posted doing this and I'm not on any other mopar sites to inquire. Think about all the times a downshift would be neat without opening up the 4bbl sure pressing #2 button is easy enough but I shift it manually enough as it is..

If you know the trans has this condition,,,,,Me thinks shifting it manuely would rectify the lack of the auto d:lol:ownshift.
I'm full manual reverse,so I push my own "buttons"

Cool for the track but a full manual valve body in a dash pushbutton car would get old really quick

My heap gets to the track 3 or 4 times a year.In these parts there is a cruise every night of the week and several choices of car shows on the weekends.I drive well over 1000 miles a season and get out out at least 2 or 3 nights a week to hang out.
Manual VB is like a stick,,,,,,you have to shift!
