Hello, I have a maxie intake and a pair of edelbrock 500 carbs. Mocking thing up I can see that I'm hitting in a couple spots, what have you guys done to make these fit without a big spacer? Anybody know where I can get the fat factory style carb flange gaskets? Thanks

Montclaire,

The new Edelbrock 500 cfm carbs require a modification to linkage. The bottom of the bell must be cut away for clearance to the manifold using factory gaskets. Hood clearance and linkage alignment is a issue if you use spacers. Here is a photo of the carb modification. I also have a new set of gaskets for these carbs for use on the Max Wedge intake. What kind of car is your engine in. I have a 63' Sport Fury and hood clearance was an issue with factory air cleaners, no spacer could be used.

That's about what we did, still have a little interference but that's without the gasket under the flange so we should be ok. Anybody running these with a choke, or have you all removed them? Thanks

I'm using the CPGT-1 gasket which is 1/8" thick. I have a set of CPGT-2 gaskets which are thicker 1/4". Again you heed to know your hood clearance. My carbs are manual choke with the dual cable. The car starts easy with full choke when cold and wants no choke at all within 5 seconds. It wants air to breath with the stock air cleaners. I have friends that have removed the choke tower and blended it for a smooth air horn. This is great for racing, makes for a terrible cruiser and long warm up periods on cold starts, not cruiser friendly period. I live in New England with 3-season cruising temperatures. As a note I found with my engine loves to run with the stock air cleaner base plate, K&N round filters, & K&N Extreme tops, a big power difference. When I get to a car show I just switch to the stock Max Wedge air clearner tops for "the look".

These are Edelbrock 600 cfm carbs with manual chokes. I have the dual choke cable from Mancini--everything works beautifully--starts great, idles fine, doesn't load up and behaves extremely well in traffic. Stand on it and LOOK OUT!
