Replaced my Carter 4 barrel on my 69 Bee, 383, with a 600 CFM Edelbrock and cannot get it to idle below 1000 RPM. Checked vacuum at the manifold port on the carberator (right side) have about 17hg. Do not have power brakes, AC or power steering or brakes. Also put in electronic points. Any suggestions? Never had an idle issue until I put on the Edelbrock carb.

Welcome to FBBO
this isn't a tech Q&A section
it's the welcome wagon

not really tech section

you can go to the other parts of the forum,
more specific to your question/s or even the General discussion section

what is electronic points ? never heard that one

Idle mixture screws/air bleeds, adjusted properly ?
idles speed screw set right ?
(I'm not a fan of Eldebrock/Webber Carter knock offs carbs, at all,
rebuild your org. Carter or put a Holley on it)
vacuum leak ? base gasket maybe ?
all vacuum ports not used, plugged ?
fast idle setting for the choke activated ? very well could be

what kind of ignition timing, how many degrees advanced ?

good luck

Could be an air leak. Remove the Edel carb & turn it over; check that all the passages in the base are covered by the carb pad/flange on the intake. I understand Edel makes a 1/16" plate to seal this in this situation.

Does the cable adjustment have enough slack to allow the throttle to fully close?
