Has anyone used these shock absorbers on their b-body before? If so can you tell us how they perform in driving and handling situations? Summit Racing has these shocks marked down right now and wanted some input before buying them. They are regularly almost $80.00 per shock and marked down to less than $50.00. Is this a good shock for the money? I plan on putting some Addco sway bars front and rear on my 1966 Satellite. I am thinking this will compliment what I want to do. I appreciate your opinions and input in advance.

i had a set on my '69 r/t for 25 miles. i hated them. they had so much gas pressure that the car rode as if the suspension was solid. some people love'em. i had edelbrock take them back and return my money. i think edelbrock is going to quit making them. i ended up buying some monroe gas shocks (the blue ones, not the yellows) and like them.

Thanks for your input. I saw that they were marked down and just wanted to know through experience. I am not trying to autocross and stuff just good ride quality and performance. What type of shocks do you suggest or did you put on your ride? I have had street/strip cars in the past. This build will have more than enough power to make a blast at the track but it will be driven alot. Track time will be few and far between. Below are some specifics on the build:
1966 Satellite Commando option full interior stock appearing(orginally 361/727 car)
440/512 Eagle rotating Assy(4.25 stroke, 7.1 rod with BBC rod journal)
SRP flat tops w/ 10.5:1-11:1 compression
Stealth heads
Weiand 8009 intake
950 HP Holley
Custom Hyd Roller(Comp Cams) 230/236 @ .050, 281/286 Advertised, with Crane 1.6 rockers, Valve lift 622/625
TCI street fighter 727
2500-3000 stall????
3:23 geared 8.75 w/sure grip
weld in sub frame connectors and torque boxes

the monroes i got, for both my dodges, were purchased at advance auto. i think about $25 apiece. the yellow monroes are the cheapies, the blues are better. for what i do, messing around on the street, they're fine. they firm the ride a little but don't shake the car until its a rattle trap. i talked to an edelbrock rep about the shocks i had and he said they had 160lbs of gas pressure. they probably would have been o.k. if the pressure was reduced. for $300 they were a terrible buy.

I would be the guy that likes my Edelbrock IAS shocks. I have a set on my 68' Coronet, which fits my ride preference thus far, and another set I tossed on my 69' roadrunner that I have yet to roll down the street. Like lewtot184 mentioned, not cheap though. I paid 90 bucks a pop for them..See summit has them for around 50 bucks ea. recently. Not the cheapest shock around but definitely not the most expensive.

I have KYB's on the fronts

Propwash,
Is your 68' more of a dedicated street car? I love the ole b bodies but they are really weak when it comes to corning and braking. These are the areas I want to improve because this car will be driven alot.

It's a safe bet to call it a street car robinwr...I have taken her to the track, just to waste some gas and shed some rubber, but nothing for any kind of real competition.

I have the Mopar XHD springs in the back along with the eddy's.....Pretty pleased with the ride. Isn't like Lincoln town car soft, but not like hay wagon hard either.

Cool man you may have just sold me on the Eddy's. I just want a street brawler that has descent street manners. I know the best of both worlds are all but impossible but a give and take is real. Do you have sway bars, front and/or rear? Thanks for your opinion.

Hope they work out good for you....Shocks are a rider preference/car specific purchase. All depends on what kind of ride you want, what you're doing with the car as well as what kind of suspension you have underneath. Gotta figure out that happy medium for yourself. Myself.....eddy's!

The coronet has an add on 7/8" front sway bar....Helped a bit, but I plan on adding a firm feel bar this spring in the rear.

The roadrunner has a 1 1/4" front bar and a 1 3/8" rear hotchkis bar.
Yet to see how they perform on her thus far being she's in the booth waiting on paint.

Best of luck to ya!

I like the Edelbrock IAS shocks. I have 'em on all four corners of my '68 Road Runner. Also, I installed 4 of these shocks on my '75 Scamp.

I have them on the Bee ,the shocks are firm and probably the reason my deep sump oil pan hasn,t touched asphalt yet.

So they are a pretty good choice for someone wanting a better handling b-body. How are they as far as hooking up or putting the power down to the pavement?

I also have the Eddy IAS shocks on all 4 corners of my '68 Satellite. They feel just fine to me and I drive on bumpy potholed roads around san jose, CA. They don't have a jarring ride at all. They don't feel as stiff as KYB's to me, but I had the KYB's on a Chevy coil spring Impala. I say for the discount price they're a good buy, but you won't know 'till you try them.

I put them on my 72 Charger a few years ago. The ride is a little firmer than the old ones. Remember that the shocks are just one part of the entire suspension package and won't make a huge difference unless your current shocks are shot.
I'm building a 68 RT clone. Besides the the IAS shocks I'm installing front and rear sway bars, tubular upper control arms, Firm Feel stage III steering box, etc. . .

I recommend Hotchkis/Bilsteins.
