I have just replaced a 318 with a 408 stroker in my '68 Sattelite Sport. It has a brand new 750cca battery, with the negative cable grounded to the motor and then from the motor to the steering box cover. I replaced the alternator, coil, starter relay and the regulator. When I connected the positive(+) lead to the positive terminal to complete the circuit, there wasn't even the obligatory small spark between the cable and battery post when finally connected. I have no lights, external and internal, no clicking of the starter, no horn sound, absolutely nothing. The battery has 13.2 volts at the terminals and not one poofteenth of a volt is getting into the circuit! Does it have anything to do with the neutral start switch on the auto trans? The transmission is in the 'Park' position.

It has nothing to do with the neutral safety switch. There are only 3 possibilities.
1. The new battery is fried
2. Your really good ground, grounded to the block & the steering box, is not good.
3. You positive battery cable isn't good, broken internally or not connected.

Check for power at the bulkhead. If you have power, the problem is in the cabin. If no power, it's in the engine compartment.

Dig out out your ohm meter and learn to use it. You did clean of all painted surfaces before attaching the engine ground? Also check the fuse links going to the bulkhead.

Or the slow way - the alternator stud will be hot, all the time, if all of the power circuit from the battery is good. Then trace backwards from the alt - bulkhead connector, amp meter, fusible link, starter stud. I'm leaving out details but that's the basics.
