So I've started some of my winter projects, but before I could get to far involved I noticed something that's had me a little sidetracked. The car has it's electrical gremlins that I've slowly been trying to fix, one being when I push the brakes my dome light comes on. Well today I also noticed I don't have any brake lights, but the dome light comes on when I press the brakes. Anyone have any idea where to start with this? I'm thinking a ground, but which ground? Is it at the taillights, the brake switch, the dome light, any guidance as to where to start would help.

The only other info I can give you is I don't have 4 ways, but I do have turn signals and the headlights are currently out because I'm replacing the adjusters and buckets, and I'm waiting for them to get here.

I have been thinking about replacing the entire wiring harness in the car just to be rid of all the problems, who makes the best, easiest and most complete harness for these cars?

You can stay with fuses and with the stock harness with an upgraded fuse/relay box or step up to switch panels. Many choices available!

One of the other things I was planning on doing over the winter is new gauges from Speed Hut, which requires me to do some work to the dash. I've been thinking about putting toggle switches in to control the lights, wipers, and the other switches on the dash. If I keep the stock harness what are my options if any to rewire these to run on 2 and 3 way switches?

Well if you decide to try to fix these issues it wont be that hard, what year model is your car? Brake light switch on my 69 RR is a momentary switch at the pedal arm for example and has its power for the tail lights routed through it and then to the steer wheel harness to the turn signal cam. issues with the cam are common and in my case was able to clean and slightly adjust the cam contacts and fix a few issues. the other thing most overlook is the flasher relays, these either missing or bad cause issues as well, confirm your turn cam is good, power is good , grounds are good, flashers are good and you are not trying to mix LED bulbs with stock parts that causes issues as well. wiring diagrams are readily available I can mark some up for you if I know the model year etc.

I had a copy of the wiring diagram on my old computer, but haven't downloaded it here yet. My car is a 69 Coronet 500, it was originally a 318 car, but now it has a 440. Wiring isn't my forte so I really have no idea where to start.

This is the wiring diagram I had

Sorry just realized this one is for a charger. If I can find a Coronet specific one I'll upload it.
And anyone know what this wire is for?

Check you eng and body grounds and make sure they are clean and tight. Ron

That wire is for the starter relay from the nss switch.
