Gents I have reviewed the existing threads and don't think they answer my question. Can you help me? If you look at the pix below, you'll see my stock 383 which I just pulled from my 1970 Roadrunner / 1970 K Frame. We pulled only the long bolt from each engine mount, so the mount is bolted to the engine exactly as it was when in the car.

The passenger side engine mount (first photo) has a "stud" which fits into a hole in the K frame engine support. Photos below of the passenger side engine mount and passenger side K frame with the hole for the stud.

The driver's side mount in the photo below has no stud. This makes sense, as the hole in the driver's side K frame is blocked by a welded support immediately inside the hole - there's no room inside the hole for a stud. See below.

So far so good, BUT

The new Dynatech mounts I received from 440 source have studs on BOTH of the engine mounts - driver and passenger. The stud on the driver's side mount DOES NOT FIT into the blocked hole in the last photo. Should I cut the stud off of the driver's side mount to match the stock one you see here in the lower photos? Or is there something wrong with my K frame and my old engine mount seen in the second photo?

I would just drill out the blocking plate so the stud will fit. I never really payed too much attention, but pretty sure all of the mounts i've ever seen had them. I have a set from a 383 that has them on both sides. Make sure there's nothing on the back side of the plate before you drill. Was the stud cut from your old mount? According to the parts suppliers, there is no difference between left & right side mounts. Drilling it now means you won't have to worry about it later on down the road should you ever have to change the mount again.

Are the mounts currently on the engine stock mopar's. If so and they are still good I would reuse them, I've done just that on a few restorations as I found some issues with aftermarket engine mounts. I don't remember the brands but in one instance the mounting rubber was just a bit thicker which raised the engine very slightly so when I closed the hood it was a tight fit (air clean housing and under hood ductwork). When I banged a gear or the engine rocked ever so slightly the fresh air base rubbed on the under hood air housing (1970 road runner). I sure why ma mopar has the extra plate under the K member motor mount on the dirver side housing but I'm sure it was there for a reason....Just my two cents worth.....

FWIW I just checked the motor mount insulators on the original 383 out of my '69 Super Bee and both sides have the protrusion that you are referring to.
And out of curiosity I slid under my '70 Charger to see if the left mount (insulator) has the protrusion but couldn't get a clear shot at it but I'm sure it does.
I'm thinking someone modified the left mount on the k-frame for some reason? I'd drill it out and use your new insulators.

Thanks for the help guys - It's kinda cool when I ask a question and a guy goes out and slides under his car to try to answer it...

I keep looking at the engine mount (the side on the engine) and the engine support (the side on the K frame) and they sure look stock to me. The plate blocking the hole in the engine support runs all the way down the bracket to the bottom of the K frame, and the engine-side of the mount looks un-altered too. I think the car came like this. I was kinda hoping someone would tell me "Oh yeah. The Los Angeles cars with air conditioning and power steering all used that kind of mount on cars produced after 2pm", or something like that...

Driver's Side Engine Mount - Does not look modified...
