Engine Specifications 1966-1974

There were some scattered here and there. One really odd case in point. In 78 you could get a road runner (an F body) with a 318 and a 4 speed, but only as a 2V, or a 360 with a 4V, but only as an auto.

EXCEPT in (the republik of) Kalifornia (of all places). There you could get a 318 4V

I'm pretty sure 318's were all 2-barrels back then.

The 318 2 bbl 4 speeds in the 78 Road Runner was really a gas saver never meant for performance. The 4th gear was overdrive.

I am aware of that. But there was a 4V option on the F body 318 in 78, and it was for Kalifornia only.

Btw....that lean burn was SO lean (how.....lean.....wasit) it was SO lean that when they added the MTBE to the gas here, that car would actually BUCK from lean surge while driving down the highway

318 four barrel

bought one in wrecking yard in tomball tx early 70's , i think it was canada engine and was origonal.

1971 440 4bbl lp is 8.8 1

1971 440 4bbl hp is 9.5.1

:VB toast:

I had a '78 Aspen with a 318 4bbl. I bought it new. Back in the late '50s you could get the 318 poly with 2-4bbls and 1-4 bbl versions were available into the early '60s.
