I finished pulling the engine and trans from my donor '86 Fifth Avenue and the trans has a weight(?) attached to the end. It doesn't attach to anything in the car. It's been a real long time since I've worked a V8 Chrysler from the '80's, so what is this? Is it neccesary? Is it some kind of balance weight or what? Also, the oil filter has an adapter that faces the oil filter to the rear. Is anyone aware if this will clear the frame or do I need to pull it and put the original in place? It's going into a '67 Charger.
Thanks

Oh yeah, I forgot to get pictures and haven't seen the light of day due to work since I pulled it. If ya'll can bear with me, I'll get pics but it may be a couple of days.

I have seen those weights on different cars and have to think they are necessary to change the resonant frequency of the drive line. It may not be necessary in your installation.

Small blocks when installed in B or E bodies don't require the 90 deg adapter - at least that's what I have found.

Yeah, the stock motor that came out doesn't have the 90° adaptor, When I get the time I'll prob just take it off.

those weights were being applied a lot sooner... my 73 Charger had one. Helps cut down/absorb harmonic vibrations from output shaft/slip yoke/driveshaft.
