I have an opportunity to pick up an all steel 32 Plymouth 3 window coupe that currently has a chevy 350/powerglide in it and am wondering how much trouble it would be to put in a 383/727.
The car is finished and runs fine, I just can't see having GM power in a Mopar!.:icon_rolleyes:

You know what would really throw the Chevy guys for a loop would be if you put in a 1958 Mopar 350 b block in there. :)

First off , Thank you for wanting to do it right. Ford in ford, chevy in chevy and for sure keep it all MOPAR..
Engine mounts and tranny cross member may have to be fabbed up.You may want to check with Speedway Motors to see if it is something you can buy.You may not be able to run the hood if the engine is to wide.Other than that should be no problem.

I wouldn't have a problem (morally) dropping a Chrysler into a Chevy or Ford!

Yes! I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking about the Chrysler 350!!

What is the Chrysler 350B?

I'm not against engine swaps into different makes but I'm so sick of seeing small block Chevy power in damn near EVERYTHING! Be different, please!! It it were mine, I'd think about sticking in a small block Mopar engine in it. Might be easier and it for sure would be lighter than the big block. And the 350 wedge was the forerunner of the 361, 383 and so forth. Looks like a 383.

I think a small block Mopar would be an easier conversion, it is shorter, lighter and more narrow than the B or RB engine and as such will be far easier to fit in the short, narrow confines of the engine bay. If they had a small block Chevy in there then the firewall has most likely been modified already for distributor clearance. A small block will also allow you to run a 904 transmission which is "only" about three inches longer overall than the Powerglide. The 904 will also fit the floor better than a 727 would, and the 727 is a full 6 1/8 inches longer than the 'glide.

Remember:
The MOPAR 383 is a WIDE engine.
Getting it to fit in that narrow frame may be difficult.

Thanks all for the good advice, I will look into a small block Mopar if I make a deal on the car.
