Engine wiring harness connector to bulkhead fitting

I need to replace the plastic terminal connector for engine wiring harness in 68 Charger. I have a new plastic connector. On the old connector there's a gasket of some sort that goes inside the connector and wraps around all the terminals. The new connector does not have this. The gasket has 8 slots where it would slide over the 8 male terminals. Is this an issue?

I would say yes. .i think the foam gasket also helps secure the connection by adding a little back pressure after they are connected. I got all my new plug gaskets from Evans wiring

Thanks for the info. I was thinking pump some grease in there but not any more. Order me some gaskets tomorrow.

A little dielectric grease wouldn't hurt too??
