Hello friends, I am back again to seek more of your much appreciated insight. This time I have questions about excessive smoke coming out of my tailpipe. I will try to be as detailed as possible.
When I start the car, there is always a bit of initial smoke. It is not super thick and billowy, but it is a fair amount that smells very strong. It stops smoking after a couple seconds, but once I back out of my driveway and get onto the street it puffs a cloud of smoke again. As long as I am moving everything is fine. But as of recently, when I accelerate hard and the transmission downshifts, another puff of smoke is emitted. Also, when I'm in moderate traffic or sitting at red lights, the smoke returns. I find myself constantly checking my mirror to see the poor car I am engulfing in smoke. Any ideas what this is? Any tests I can perform to get a better idea of what it can be? Thanks.

Hi! have you checked the brake fluid reservoar?can suck oil through brake boster into motor has experienst it my self/Mike

Oil smoke is a light bluish color. Too rich a fuel mixture or sticking choke will cause a dark grey or blackish smoke. The oil smoke has a mild burned smell, and the fuel smoke has a more sharp and raw smell that will almost seem to burn your senses if it is very rich.

From what I have read of your car, I would bet money that the valve stem seals are old and cracked. That will suck a lot of oil into the combustion chamber. I have an all original low miles 67 Buick that has never been touched. I get the oil smoke at start ups from this...

I thought the other thread already established the engine is in need of a rebuild?

If you pull a valve cover, you should be able to see if the valve seals are cracked or broken. They're not too hard to replace while leaving the heads on the engine.
