Can anyone recommend a good quality, high temp, exhaust manifold paint or coating that will last n look good. I see eastwood makes some products but no experience with them. Thanks

I would also be interested in peoples coating experiences good and bad.

X2 but I'm sure I already know the response. I've been wanting to try the flameproof VHT with ceramic in it.

I always use the Eastwood Hi temp "Cast Iron" exhaust manifold paint.
Apply it with a brush.
I always sand/bead blast my manifolds before application.
I have had good luck with it.

Option 2:
1. Cerakote coatings: 1 855-883-7785
2. POR-20 Hi Temp paint for application (Famous POR-15 line)
3. Jet-Hot coatings

I got brand new manifolds from Classic Industries this week, would they need bead blasting also?

Brand new manifolds usually have a "coating" on them to protect them from rusting.
You can tell.
If so, just wire brush them with alcohol to clean them up.

A local shop here sandblasts mine and powder coats them, My GTX manifolds are going on ten years, and they look like new. $150.00 but they stay forever.

How well will these coatings work on headers??

I called the shop, and they ceramic coat the headers, Inside and out. They can do several colors, black, silver, etc.
he said around 225.00

If you're buying new ones it would probably be cheaper to buy them already coated, but that would be decent for older ones I guess.

I agree, I'm sure it works for some folks. but new TTI's are the ticket if I were buying another set.LoL

I go with option #1 and have had very good results. Kinda dull looking, but does not dis-color or rust....................MO

Here is another option that I have used on daily drivers. Its your call, but I believe this is the absolute best option.

Its called "Slip Plate" and its a spray-on graphite coating. Its comes in a green and yellow can and is super easy to apply. Just spray and rub. The best part is that if it looks bad or needs to be touched up, just spray more on and rub it. Super-easy, looks great, lasts a long time. Here is the website:

This is an old guys trick.

Cerakote Coating

Just picked up my Hemi Manifolds from Extreme Powder Coating in Blooming Prairie MN. Went with cast iron Ceramic finish (inside and out) by Cerakote Ceramic Coatings, they are rated up to 1800 degrees and are warrantied to 1300 degrees. Cost me $187.03 which I thought was ok. Did mine with cast blast.
These are from the 73 but I did my 67's on the car back in 06 and they still look great.

ODZKing, damn those look good. I thought a guy would have to repaint every year for that look (which I wanted to avoid) but yours prove that wrong - nice job.
