Can anyone tell me what Ive got? All the other manifolds Ive found have the heat riser, this one doesnt, and no machine marks, obviously never had one. Cant get the casting number to turn up anything. This is an hp manifold correct?? Do you have to run a heat riser? Any more to it than taking longer to warm up? Sorry Im pretty green.. Thanks guys!

73-74 B Body HP manifold IIRC... don't know why it never had a heat riser installed though..

and yeah, it's so it warms up quicker... we used to throw a weld on them all the time to hold them open when they got noisy :p

71 to 74 b body
383 and 440

Thank you my friend, well Ive got a pair then, the left is for a 73/74 B body too. They're meant for a 440 going into a 67 satellite. Theres no clearance problems I dont know about right? If they're good to run, what should i do with them to get them ready? Go get them blasted and paint em up? Ceramic paint and bake em? Do you clean up the inside with a dremel or anything or am I getting out of hand??

Check this thread out in the Paint forum.

Blast them, paint them, cure the paint with a propane torch. No need to do anything inside.

Trying to 'port' stock manifolds is pretty much a waste of time. Extrude hone does help but not worth the expense.

Thanks Beep, yeah i liked what Monaco said about powder coating, sounds like the ticket, we have a shop in our town I might call to get a price on, but Ill probably be forced to stick to a rattle can and a blow torch, sounds more like a wedding budget.. because "somebody" just has to have flowers at her wedding.. Thanks everyone, thanks for the tip cranky, saved me a mistake, cheers everyone! :eek:ccasion14:

Actually, I don't think heating with a torch is necessary. I just let my engine bake them on. ........................MO
