Hi, I need to remove the passenger side exhaust manifold from my 68 Coronet R/T, 440 engine. Question's are; Will it be removed from the top or out the bottom?? Can this be done without removing the mounting studs in the head? Also can this be done without dropping the H-pipe? Thanks in advance

I just took both sides off my 1969 Coronet R\T. First, use a good penetrating oil on the nuts and bolts and let soak for an hour or longer. Next, unbolt the exhaust header pipe, remove the nuts from the manifold studs leaving the studs in the heads, remove the manifold from the top.

Thanks for the reply

You bet. I found the studs at OReilly's Auto Part for 53 cents each including the nuts.

glad to hear you got the studs.sometimes it's at the good old parts store. by the way OReilly's is the onley store to have a starter relay in stock

I had a mismatch of bolts studs and one piece of all-thread. So, I bought 8 studs to try to install the TTI headers, which, according to the instructions, should work. Wish me luck.

Prepare for antifreeze to flow out of the heads if the studs happen to come out with the sleeve nuts. Pretty common so don't freak out if it happens.

Good luck mechanic

I suggest also using new gaskets and bolts where the ex pipes connect to the manifold. Makes re assembly a breeze. And future dis assemblys are easier too.
