Does anyone know where I can find a good exploded view of the 62-65 steering column? Looking for the pushbutton / floor shifter style specifically. The service manual has very limited diagrams.
Anytime, glad I could help with all the help I've been given lately it's nice to be able to give back!
I have lots of other pics from the assy process... including a couple mistakes I made where I had to take everything back apart because I forgot something, so if I can get the writeup done this week I'll post it. Until then... I've done this twice, basically!
I am really glad I found this thread with the search function.
Today I was working on my 63 Dodge and it seems as if I have a missing bushing at the end of the steering column. The rubber boot is still there, but the steering shaft is off center and I can move the column at the bottom tube and the shaft does not move. I removed the rubber boot and can see no bushing or support for the bottom of the shaft at the end of the column tube..
Because of this I can the steering wheel up and down quite a bit because of no support inside the column tube. Am I missing a part inside the column? I can`t tell from the pics above. Any help appreciated.
On closer inspection I think I see see what I am missing. In the first pic I see the two sheet metal firewall supports. I am missing the smaller of the two which supports the lower column. Question, is there still in inner column bushing or does this small support do the job?
Anyone have this part laying around so I can get rid of the "shakes" thanx, Bob myers
