Looking for options and/or opinions

My car is single stage gloss black

We just machined polished it for the 1st time since it was painted almost 25 years ago. It didnt look bad before. But it sure looks dang good now

Im looking for ideas on best protectant / gloss for it.

Ive been told by a few people NOT to ceramic coat it
Just a good paste wax seems to be the option of choice for the ceramic coat appliers around here

PS, Im thinking the car duster mop looking things are not a good idea on a black car, I'm beginning to think they just drag the dust around / Thoughts

What to YOU use to get the dust off of it?

And I will be upgrading to a better quality car cover here soon.
The one I have seems to be Ok for protect it from sitting things on it. But dust protection sucks

Looking at this one Indoor Black Satin Shield Car Cover

The covers get dusty then you are putting more dust back on it every time.

Wash the cover offten.

i would recommend two coats of a good carnauba wax every six months or so. Just wipe the car down with a synthetic detailer in between. I do see less dust on the car since using the quick detailer. And what dust there is comes off with the California car duster with no scratches or smudge marks.

I agree with the good wax on a single stage. Gives it a nice protective coat

Bill, I have 2 black cars and I use the California duster. It’s treated and picks up the dust rather than just pushing it around.

Maguire Gold. I dust all of mine with a California Duster. No covers..

And this car has a quick shat 15+ year old scuff and paint on it.

I use a “butter” wax. Forget the brand. Chemical guys I believe. I have to use a cover for damage protection. I use quick detailer and a California duster as needed. I do think it looks better when using a dedicated rag from the detail products people. Microfiber generic stuff just didn’t do it right.

My detailer said if it’s not birdshit, let it go til next wash. A asked WHY. He said “you’ll scratch it. I follow the advice.
