Cleaning up interior. Floor panel sealant in places is tired, cracked, comes loose when running a shop vac over it. Other spots still appear flexible, seated, attached, in good shape and providing protection. Looking for the group consensus and/or recommendations. Keep what is still good, or remove it all down to parade rest and start fresh? Plan is to clean, degrease, paint, Kilmat, then install carpet insulation followed by carpet.

I would recommend complete removal of the old sealant and replacement with new/better sealant.

3M brushable seam sealer in the quart can After you remove all of the old
material and wipe it down with lacquer thinner. The tarry oily original stuff
will not let the new seam sealer stick.

The longer I spent wire brushing in the car today the more of that crud just flaked away in chunks. I decided I'd rather know what's under there going forward, and began stripping it all out. Thanks for the sanity check.
