Factory Paint Colors?

66 Coronet 440 2dr HT;
Started sandblasting small parts and I have a few questions:
1. What finish is supposed to be on the following parts ex: upper and lower control arms, bars from the front of the control arm toward the core support, torsion bars,
2. Metal brackets on each side of the fuel tank, appear to be some type of tow bracket.
3. Power steering sector
4. Brake drums (?)
5. Brake backing plates
6. Spindles
7. Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves
8. Center Link
9. The big frame piece that is kind of shaped like an "x" that joins the front and goes under the engine.
10. Throttle and trans linkages
12. Rear u-bolt brackets
Any other parts you can think of that I have left off. LOL

Natural is fresh metal, not painted. This isn't necessarily gospel, but what I seen the most.

Thanks 69b, that helps a lot. Trying to stay busy till I save up the money for a complete floor pan. The two brackets next to the fuel tank or 90 degrees, cut at angles and have one hole through them. I don't have a photo, but they are not the spring shackles. I'll try to find a photo of them and post it.

Someone might have added them, but I have not seen anything resembling what you describe. As far as to paint or not, if this is a driver, and not a trailered show queen, I would paint all of the natural stuff satin black, or have it powder coated black. That would provide the best protection in the long run. Thinking about it, I wouldn't sand blast the torsion bars, just wash them. The friction and heat from sand blasting could possibly affect the temper of the bar, or not, just a thought....... I would at least just wipe them down with lacquer thinner, and repaint.

Thanks 69Bee, no it is not going to be a show car. We will drive it regularly to and from work. I appreciate the info, probably go with the satin black on most of the parts. Thanks again, Wayne

I think the brackets you are talking about are shipping hold down brackets.

You can mix it up with cast iron look paint for the cast pieces and satin black for the steel parts to give some contrast and it looks good. I'll probably do something like that.
