I've been working on Engine Detailing .The Engine compartment is an important focal point of Car, everyone wants to see whats under the Hood. I would like to make the engine compartment look just right. (original finish) I done may homework with photos & resto books.

But I'm finding out that theirs a lot of Mopar NOS & OEM Parts being sold are counterfeit and are sold under the pretense that they are genuine. Let's be honest, these guys know their stuff... They know that we are passionate for your vehicles. We often have to find out the hard way, that genuine parts can be difficult to procure. The choices range from top-dollar NOS- OE replacement parts, to less expensive parts made by reputable parts makers, to cut-rate parts from third-world.....

Were all Mopar enthusiasts We all know the difficultly to decode VINs, fender tags, broadcast sheets or build records. I'm not going to put that chinese bull part in my vehicle... Internet purchasing is making it hard to spot a fake auto part.

For example the voltage regulator .NEW OLD STOCK regulator P/n 2098300 .
From a guy in sarasota Florida mopar meet....my buddy didn't know...

How many real parts can sit on a shelf or in some one's garage for 40 plus years and not show signs of age? NOS but shinny new is a tip off

There are guys that collect the NOS boxes so they can put a nice used or a repo part in there and sell it as NOS STILL IN TH BOX.
Pretty sad.

It is not only that but I am guessing the Forida parts were were bought from G&D. If I remember correctly they were the ones that were selling the repo
A12 air cleaner assemblies as NOS or "like new" originals. These air cleaners were being produced by Ben Snobar and it is suspected that he was in on it and profiting from it because he did not list it as "available" on his web site until AFTER the scam was discovered and the Mopar community was alerted.

I have heard of no other repo parts being sold as NOS but I am sure there are people out there that are selling new repos as "like new" parts. In this case it is unlikely that the manufacturer is guilty of any wrong doing as they openedly advertise their repoed parts to the community. Some don't sell them directly and only sell to retailers and that can sometimes be an opportunity for shady retailers.

Yep. Bought nos parts in the box only to find out only the box was nos. The part in the box was the oem piece that gave out years ago and was put back in the box.

Freaken scammers & con artists, buyer beware...
