Farewell, Crown Vic. You will be missed.

Don't worry Pab. After the cops get done beating these Crown Vics, the cab companies will grab them up, paint 'em yellow, and run 'em till the wheels fall off.

They kinda glossed-over the fact that Crown Vics got the cop gig pretty much by default when the last of the rwd Mopars (and then the Chevys) went away. Some agencies diddled around w fwd junk, but its very hard to take a copper seriously when he's rollin' up in some fwd econo-poopster....even if he does have a big ridiculous hat.

Well, Mopar is back in the prowler business now... all the cruisers I see where I live are Chargers. CHP still runs Crown Vics, although they're replacing their fleet with this. :(

Most are in Chargers now

What? Are you saying it is tough to take a cop seriously when they roll up in a Prius? Say it ain't so.

There's LOTS of FWD lumina and impala cop cars around here. Specially county.

State was first to have Chargers and is now on second gen.

I've started to see FWD taurus county cars within the last 8 months.

my daily driven 1999 Crown Victoria is one of the best cars I have ever owned... even AFTER its tour of duty as a South Carolina slick top car. Rides great, gets decent gas mileage, easy to maintain and so on. Currently has 212,000 and counting...

Of course I have had to rebuild the front end, add rear shocks plus rebuild the rear axle. But it still blows cold air, does leak water into the interior and will still run 100 with its 3.55 rear axle. It does leak oil like anything BP makes though.....

Godspeed,
JON
