I was talking to a friend this morning who's was involved in building the cars for the last few of the Fast And Furious movies of the series.
He told me of the cars he's gathered for part 7, they're are currently buying up '68-'70 Chargers and Camaros too. The Charger's & Camaro's are gonna be made into Pre-Runner style cars...complete with the spare tire mounts on the trunk area....and the bodies will be sitting on Chevy powered chassis' (UGH!!!). The last I heard they already had quite a few Charger's, (maybe 10 or so). Gonna try and get more info....maybe pictures too?. Sorry about the bad news guys.

I guess the Rich Rawlins (Fast & Loud) trend will be next out in So Cal? He has had his Mustang that way for a while now.

I wouldn't say it'll be a trend here in California. I have no idea why this is the direction they're going in the upcoming Fast And Furious. Pre Runner cars aren't anything new....they've been building that style of car for the Baja 1000 since the 60's, James garner ran a factory backed Olds Cutlass in the early 70's as well.

You are correct, it was originally done back in `69...but never really took off as a 'trend'. It being put up on "the big screen", and with easy access to fabricators these days, wouldn't be suprised at all to see it become a limited trend. And as we all know, car trends tend to start on the west (best) coast. This one fits in better out there due to the desert environment of over half the state.

I wish there was a way to stop these films being made and ruining good project cars! It's not like they are common..So each wrecked car for 2 or 3 seconds of screen time is another nail in the coffin for muscle cars.

That's one way to think of it. The other is that for each one they destroy, the value of the rest go up. Good for those who already own them, but bad for those still wantng to buy them.

I wish they would find pieces of junk and 'bondo' them up. Or better yet, modify a less desirable car. The right builder can take a plain Jane and make them desirable. But since the movie industry has bottomless pockets, they grab what's convenient (usually a good one) and proceed to destroy it.
