Hello guys I have a 68 road runner 383 I just bought a new Edelbrock performer intake and a used 650 CFM Edelbrock carb I thought I would try the carb before rebuilding it but it surged bad under a load so I rebuilt it yesterday and it helped but it still is doing it but not as bad. Do I need a high output fuel pump. the car had a 500CFM carter on it when I bought it. any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Steve.

I have tuned everything I can think of I just got rid of the point distributor put in msd and did plugs at the end of last summer just before I parked it for winter.

It is driving me nuts. LOL

Sounds to me like you just didn't get the carb completely clean on the rebuild. Could also be a vacuum leak or partially clogged fuel filter.

Many times you get surge under load because jetting is too lean.....
