Hey guys/girls,

Looking for confirmation on these valve stem seals I am installing in my heads. There are two seals one short and fat the other taller and skinny.

I think the short fat ones are for the exhaust and the tall skinny are for the intake... Do you concur?

Thanks,

Probably so. The intakes usually seal better because there's suction on them. The exhausts really aren't necessary at all. Nobody used to put valve seals on exhaust valves years ago. Especially on an early Hemi, for example. Once assembled, oil would have to run uphill to run "down" the exhaust valves. The reason for looser fitting exhaust seals is so that they can get SOME lubrication and cooling from a little oil. I usually leave the exhaust seals off of everything I build. Even if oil runs straight down the valve, it's not going to burn and produce smoke, because the combustion process is done by then. It gets blown out the tail pipe.
