Does anyone know a couple of the codes that weren't able to be read by the tag decoder? Specifically, GB7 is listed twice, and the decoder just repeats exterior color. Is it supposed to be one of the GB7 is the interior color?
Also, is it just coincidence or why does it look like there is a F punched in at the top? I'm hoping it doesn't mean fake or anything, the tag checks out to the vin on dash and the engine, but I'm unsure.

Thanks,
Paul

I very well might be corrected but...is it a non vinyl top car with B7 roof and B7 lower as in comletely B7? the H2B5 being bright blue interior? the singularly painted screw and the bend along with the patina seem to make it look legit in my eyes

No, it's a white vinyl roof car, that's also partly why I'm confused.
I do not have all the codes memorized so I would need to look at a cheat sheet but thats interesting. Is there a code for a white vinyl roof on it, I cant recall top codes?

The second GB7 code is the door frame color. Since you have a blue interior it is the same as the exterior. For example my 71 has a black door frame color as you can see in the pic. Yours will be all body color.

That tag looks good to my untrained eyes. And the punched "F" is just an inspectors stamp.

The first GB7 is the exterior paint color.

The second GB7 is the upper door paint color. This is the paint they applied to the inner door panel so it matches or accents the interior trim colors.

The H2B5 identifies the interior trim the car came with.

The third line from the bottom begins with V4W which is White Vinyl Roof.

A letter punched through the fender tag is not unusual for a car produced in St. Louis.

The indentations near the screw on the right hand side of the picture are some type of inspection stamp.

The absence of paint on the right screw in the picture is not

The crease near the left screw in the picture is not unusual for a car produced in St. Louis.

The "G" in "H1G" signifies the car was built in St. Louis.

I was always told that the tags were initially installed only with the left screw and then went thru paint, the tag was "lifted" to allow paint to be sprayed on the inner structure under the tag causing the crease. After paint, a non painted screw was placed on the right side firmly attaching the tag. Is this correct and the procedure causing this? I have seen this on many non restored cars including mine but do not definitively know

The OP's fender tag looks totally legitimate to me.

Here's mine for comparison to show the screws, crease, punched letter ("K" on my car) and the indentations near the right screw.

Yes.

You can see the wipe marks in the paint of my picture.
