Fiberglass Lift Off Hood Problems

During high forward speeds my lift off hood is getting me worried.

The very front actually rolls up and I am concerned that it might even crack or break. Is this normal, or is there a way to reinforce it to prevent this from happening?

I had to put 4 across the front of my mopar....

Your pins must be set too high. Post some pics and maybe we could tell by that.....

You said lift-off, therefore it could be race weight or street weight. Race should be around 15lbs, street will be near 30lbs. Real a12 hoods were 35+ lbs.
If it's too light, either more bracing glassed in underneath , or more pins will be necessary . Or both.
Try google for a look at the underneath braceing of a factory a12 hood.

Hopefully, they just mean it's lifting up because of the pin locations/tension?

With a super lightweight style hood the easiest fix is to add some pins closer to the center like that tough-looking Dart up there..

I have a liftoff 6 pack hood from Unlimited on my 68 Sat. Street type hood. Even had provisions for using hinges. The first time I took it to the track , it rolled up the front and cracked the corners. I added a couple of pins in the center and it stopped it from doing it. Just went outside and took a pic to show pin location. Poor ole car is a sad sight. Maybe it will be next on the list for improvements.

The pins need to be further forward. If the under structure is weak it'll need a center pin. I run my AAR hood to 150 on 4 pins without issue. I watched a friends 65 Dodge lift the center of the hood 8"-10"@140+. It got a center pin

You know what, you are right. The pins were installed incorrectly way to far to the rear. Thanks for the help.

I had a lift off six pack scooped hood on my 69' Charger at one time. Using the factory hood pin location's it did exactly as you are thinking is going to happen. Going down the track mine broke from side to side thru the hood pin holes. The front 10" or so of the entire hood broke and stood straight up on a low 11 sec street car.
