Well after years and years of searching and looking at overpriced rust buckets
I stumbled upon a Craigslist deal, unmolested 1969 Charger all complete, car has minor rust in the lower quarters which I will replace, needs a trunk floor and I will probably put a set of framerails (driver side looks worse) taillight finish panel (not because of rust but driver quarter had been dented pushed forward about a inch, floor pans are solid as well as all the frame and inner fenderwells, all the sheetmetal is original and the doors, fenders, hood decklid! wow, I mean I was speechless, It is a factory Red 318 car and had a vinyl top (top had been taken off and is clean as all getout no rust) has a crap
rear axle its not a 8 3/4" for sure (has a cover on the back 8 1/4"?) Interior was white with black dash and its totally complete dash pad has no cracks,
the front grille is all there with all the trim, couple pieces are cracked but I can repair it no problem, center stainless bar is bent to crap! It will need bumpers, 318 does not run but I have a 440 that will go in it. Im sure some of you will want to bash me for what the car will be! (wink wink) sorry but if it doesnt have a big rebel flag on the roof and isn't orange its not gonna be what I truely want since I have been 5 years old! There are not many pieces I need, the only trim pieces I need are the driver side quarter panel extension and chrome (gone from where it was bumped) the Vinyl top trim that goes inside the rear sail panels (mine were there but the knucklehead that removed the vinyl top broke the arrowhead parts off taking them off!) I have every single other piece to the car. Sorry if I am rambling but im super pumped, I have seen 69' shells go for what I paid for this. I think I used all my luck for the year up on this one!!!

Woooo! I call first hood slide!! lol!!

That's awesome man!

When does the project begin?

As soon as I sell my 71 Challenger and 72 Dart Swinger!!!! Im going to collect the sheetmetal parts first, It will be on the road next summer!!!! I have everything to put the 440 in it and I have a Dana 60 that came out of a 68 Hemi GTX with 4.11's and Strange axles with a Wilwood disc brake setup that will get transplanted into the Charger, I still need to find a set of American Racing Vectors I would like to find a set of 15 inchers instead of the 14's I knew American Racing was reproducing them a few years ago but I just looked and they Discoed em' !!!!

Looks great!!!! An congrats on what you have been looking for. Keep up posted on progress.

Why is it every 69 charger has to be a general lee?I'd like to see a nice resto on one for a change. That's like the idiots at chop cut rebuild what they did to that 69 they should be hung! Anyway good luck on your new project!it is a good starting point for sure.

moparsteve636, I wish I could also have a nice black 69' Charger but! like I said before I am a Mopar guy through and through (Grandpa owned Dodge,Chrysler,Plymouth Dealership for 30 years!) But I just have wanted a General since a child so to the chigrin of the Purists, I gotta go General Lee!
Now I have a couple more pics, who makes all the leaf spring perch and assorted pieces?? My Driver side is SHOT!!! The frame is toast and from about 2 inches behind the wheel well back is nasty nasty!!but the passenger side looks good no rot in the frame, I don't think I will have to replace the dutchman panel, I am thinking about just putting quarter skins on this car, won't know for sure but the outer wheel houses are solid I had the back wheels off today to put better tires that hold air!! and the wheel houses looked fantastic, Im thinking rear valance, tailight panel, full trunk floor,
frame section on driver side and leaf spring perch, trunk drop offs, valance corners. Let me know what ya think!

AMD makes your leaf spring shackle mounts. They also make full rear rails. I got my partial rear rails from auto body specialties. They tie in about mid hump above the axle and are tappered down at the last inch and a half so they can slide into your original rails

Hey Thanks propwash! I think thats what im gonna do section the frame right after the wheelwell, Im gonna go check out AMD right now. Thanks again!!

That's like the idiots at chop cut rebuild what they did to that 69 they should be hung!

:confused2:

I don't watch that show but I found that car while searching for color combos on b-bodies.

Did they really hose it up?

They gave it a name but I can't remember what they called the car, i was just interested in the copper bronz-ish paint with the white top.

man our cars dont ever get that bad down here....but congrats on wanting a General Lee, I am a county boy in georgia and I love the general!!!!

Yeah the pics look bad but that is the only bad rust on the car, and I have seen guy's fix up stuff that really needed hauled to the junkyard (The Chop Cut rebuild car!) I just got my Classic Industries Mopar catalog today and man do they have alot of stuff, I had been out of the loop on the resto parts for about 4 years and man it seems they have every piece of sheetmetal now!
and all the small stuff (thankfully I won't need all that since car is complete)
I had the Charger outside yesterday when I took the pics and had a guy stop by and offer me twice what I paid for it Tuesday, I said nah!

Nice rig! I have many sets of 15" vectors and am not too far away. I have some Charger parts too, but not sure I have anything you need.

JimS, I shot you a PM get with me on those Vectors I am only a hour drive from Indy!

Good luck on your project. I understand wanting that dream car. Yours the "General Lee", mine the "Assassins" getaway car.

I have all my AMD sheetmetal just need to bust out the sandblaster this next week sometime and clean the backhalf up and shoot some epoxy before I install the driver rear frame rail, trunk pan, crossmember, spring perch and the outer wheel houses then on to the outer sheetmetal! hope to have all the sheetmetal all on within the next month, then back on to the rotiserre to do final clean up on bottom and weld in my US cartool subframe connectors and spray the bedliner on the underside.
