Just got back from the track with my 68

Had some transmission shifting problems but still pulled off my first pass in the 12's !!!!! So pumped. knowing my shifting was all over the place there is no doubt the car has even more in it still. Looking for 12.7 now !!!

60 ft. - 1.82
1/8- 7.71
1/8 MPH - 83.45
1/4 - 12.95 @ 99.30 MPH

The mph is way off because my transmission was acting up I had to let off just before the line . I am am hoping its just a simple linkage adjustment . Only made 2 runs and pulled the plug until get the transmission issue fixed . SO happy with how the car performs for a super simple build!

Sound's grate. Yep you will pull it off once you get thing's figured out and your nerves calm down at the light. Good luck on the next round's. Blue

Excellent!
There's always more in there..
How was traction?

Car hooked nice. Still leaving off idle, next time I want to try and load the converter a bit and see what kind of 60ft I can get..

Once I get the damn shift linkage adjusted and can shift it where I want again that will help for sure. The damn thng slipped back into 2nd near the end of the track so I let off immediately . There was also I decent head wind today.

Very fun....the 12s are always a good target. I miss going to the track! Congrats!

Here is a video . Not the best quality but you get the idea !! lol

You can hear the RPM jump just before the traps

Congratulations! I remember my first twelve second pass like it was yesterday! (It was forty years ago)
Edit: be VERY careful with shifter problems. I had a bad shifter cost me a nice big block Chevy once. Moved the shifter for third at 6500, got neutral instead. Don't know how high it went, only had a eight grand tach. Bye bye motor.

What is it about getting your first 12.xx? Still remember every detail of mine as well.

Congratulations

12.90's good ET for 99mph, even letting off

certainly more in there

have fun & good luck on the 12.70's quest,
shouldn't be any issue
good air on a good track,
a 1.70-ish 60ft will get 'past that point' (of 12.70)
if you can make the car work better down low,
the ET will improve much more

what's the total combo

any details build details etc. ?

refresh our/my memory

Well good news is the shift problem is fixed. So simple grrrrrrr. The lower linkage rod, had slipped just a tiny bit, but the real problem was that when I had initially set it, I set it to the front of the detent, instead of the rear. All the the different pivitot points I got mixed up and had the direction backwards in my head.

Re- adjusted and now everything seems nice and defined . Still need to take it out for a drive, but pretty sure its good to go .

The setup is basic :

-440 - bored .30
-Factory 906 Heads, valves back cut, with 3 angle valve job ( 75 throat cut) . Some home porting done in my garage, actually only did the intake never touched the exhaust side. Also gasket matched to the intake
-Performer RPM intake manifold
-Holley 3310 vacuum secondaries with a rear metering block installed, and choke horn shaved
-Icon pistons
-Stock rods with ARP head bolts
-Comp cams XE274 camshaft with matched timing/spring/lifter kit
- Hedman 1 3/4 headers with 2.5 x pipe to dynomax ultra flows
-Entire setup up balanced

-Mopar Orange ECU and distributor package recurved with summit kit ( THE RECURVE WAS NEW FOR THIS RUN )
-MSD street fire coil
-Firecore 50 wires
-NGK plugs

- CE 3 way adjustable struts all around
- 26 x 10 x 15 MT slicks
- Factory 3.23 sure grip rear end

-Factory 727 , basic rebuild with Trans-Go 2 kit
- No name 2500 converter

Other than that... all orginal

Thats a great et for the mph. Congrats on getting in the 12's as I remember how happy I was when I ran my first 12. Oh I see now where you said you lifted which killed some mph. You still did good. Good luck going faster with it , Ron
