Here is my situation. My 69 sport satellite was an A/C car. I am not going to have A/C when its done. I have a heater set up for a non A/C car. None of the A/C equipment was with the car when I bought it. My dilemma is what to do with the firewall. Should I find an A/C blower motor/heater and just not hook up the A/C stuff, weld in half of a non A/C firewall or fabricate some sort of block off plate in case I ever change my mind about having A/C. If you have done any of the above let me know pics would be great.

With what you describe i think i would fab a nice looking plate to put on, just in case you change your mind down the road.. A pic of the firewall and the opening you need to do something with would help guys help you in deciding.

OK how do I post a pic from my computer that does not have a url?

You must first make your reply clicking the "add reply" button and not the "quick reply at the bottom. When the page pops up click on the paper clip and you will see the "browse" tabs.

My thought would be to fab a nice cover plate. If you ever decided to put the A/C back in later, make life a lot easier. And if you ever decided to sell the car, A/c would appeal to a lot more people. JMHO

Block off plate 100%. I just did a number of plates on my firewall, including a large one for the bulkhead connector. I just tacked them in and ground back the welds. I am going to have my body guy level it out. But, they are easily removed and cleaned up if I want to put the car back.

You could fab up a nice cover for the large hole left by the A/C. One out of sheet metal painted to match the car or a nice cover out of stainless steel. If you think you will never change your mind, then you could weld in a pc. of metal to fit, grind smooth and paint. My car was factory A/C and I welded the hole shut and painted to match. One or maybe both, can't remember , of the heater hoses will go thru the plate that you fab but is easily drilled to fit.

I think I am going to go with grafting in a piece of non A/C firewall. Like it has been stated with a block off plate I would have to drill an additional hole in the firewall as the heater core doesn't line up with any of the existing holes. firewall.JPG

If you need non a/c firewall parts im cutting up a 69 coronet right now.
