nothing went thru that hole. it's a drain slot i believe and should have a rubber cover over it.

ok interesting, draining from inner cowl I guess ? Funny it would have a rubber seal would that not keep debris from getting out ?

It did have a rubber flap covering the hole! It is still available!

Actually not so weird... intended to let water out but not let engine compartment fumes get into cowl & interior.
