Ok time to invade the steering section thread. Has anyone used the firm feel power steering boxes mine is shot. Or has anybody used anything else?

Can't speak high enough of them.

Sent them my `66 steering box and power steering pump (with resivoir and pulley installed). Both came back bare metal, looking brand new an operated great. I bumped up to 'phase I' so there would actually be SOME resistance felt compared to the original, 'no resitance-single finger steering'...that stuff was just dangerous. I had clearance issues with a header tube and power steering pressure line (it can happen when you go changing stuff around) and they helped me out, sending me a newer piece that the hoses attach to so I could gain more clearance. Even talked me through making steering adjustments once I swapped the part! Great guys to deal with. Good luck!

I haven't used them, but I did just use one from Steer and Gear in Ohio. Great service and the box feels great. Might want to check them out as they are closer and shipping would be less more than likely.

I sent my power steering box to firm feel and they did a great job - not more play in the feel of it.
Call Dennis at firm feel they do good work.

Thanks fellas I was looking for the one that goes to the swap meets and I think the steer and gear was one I was lookin for.

For many, the decision to go with Firm Feel or Steer and Gear is often regional. FF is on the West coast, S&G is on the other side.
Being in CA, I chose Firm Feel. They have a great rep for quality, and they also offer a variety of other products for making our cars perform in the twisties. I opted to go with their stage 3 steering chuck. They advised a #2, but I was just building the Charger after owning a modified Camaro for several years. I wanted the closest thing to power assisted steering...In a way, the feel of a manual chuck at driving speeds, with assist at low speeds for easier parking. Mission absolutely accomplished!
The steering chuck feels tight with minimal slop. To make things even better, I added their Fast Ratio idler and pitman arms. These are longer than stock, which reduces the steering ratio from 16 to 1, 3 1/2 turns lock to lock down to 12 to 1, 2 3/4 turns. This also increased the steering effort even further.
I run wide tires, a 275 -40 up front. The response is fantastic. Another thing: FF recently released a support bearing and bracket that was designed to reduce steering box flex. Many are unaware of the fact that many times, "twitchy" feel from the steering wheel can be attributed to a steering box that actually flexes on its mounts. This support bracket eliminates the flex and is a bolt-on kit.
Firm Feel is a class act. Their products can transform your car!

I purchased a remanufactured OEM from Autozone for $99. With an exchange, or a $52 core charge. I was surprised Autozone even carried them. Then purchased a fast ratio pitman arm from FirmFeel for $199 I believe plus shipping.

It may be a rumor, but from what I have read, the rebuilt ones from auto parts stores are often just cleaned and reassembled with new seals. The Firm Feel units have stiffer reaction springs and select fit internals. Think of it as "blueprinting"in the same way you'd treat your engine. ALL components are assembled with specific tolerances instead of installing stuff that is "close enough".
No offense to the low cost rebuilt steering chuck you bought. Maybe yours is okay.

I have a stage III S&G (wnet with them cause they were closer) in my Ebod. Its been great!

well i went with steer and gear and it is lots better than what i had
