Something doesn't look right here. Is this how the nut and washer sit on the fork rod? The cut end of the nut looks wierd sitting up against the washer.

That looks slightly different than mine, but that nut is supposed to fit into the washer to locate it. Do you have another washer with a slightly larger hole in it? If so that is the one for that spot...

then the rubber insulator goes on the other side of the washer, pressing against the fork itself. (to the right in your pic)

First of all thanks for the reply and great diagram.

"that nut is supposed to fit into the washer to locate it"- this is where my question comes in. It doesn't fit into the washer, but against the side of it. I never saw this kind of nut before. I thought maybe it was a lock nut ( though mine spins freely-old age or whatever) or maybe the slots were to create friction on the washer- again so it wouldn't spin.

So there was no washer with a larger hole there when I took it apart, but it doesnt look like your diagram has one either.

I have the rubber insulater still on the fork.

What do you think?

I would send Brewer's your picture and ask them if it is set up correctly, incorrectly, if you have the correct parts or if you are missing something that they sell that you can buy to be correct.
