The boys have done it again. We find stored in an attic of an old house a vintage 30’s era Hillegass Tall Tail midget racer body that was ordered prior to WWII & never assembled. Check out this video of yet another great find from the gang at Bob’s Classic Cars and Parts

A full sized midget racer?

My parents bought a country home in 1971. 5 acres partially wooded. Back in the woods there were 2 complete chasis and bodies that look identical to this one. I begged, bargained, threw 7 year old fits to my father to keep them. But hell no,they weren't practical, a money pit they got to go.

Imagine if you will, a ten year old, me, and a guy with a huge German accent, my dad, at a race track trying to tell somebody that he wanted that funny little car so we could race it at the track. My dad wanted one of those soooooo bad, it's hard to believe. My dad loved cars, but didn't know a power steering unit from an alternator. With that heavy accent and broken English you would laugh till you cried just listening to him go on about it. Mom said we weren't getting one and it was still love from afar!!!

I've watched them race and I don't want any part of it. Balls to the wall and nothing else matters. The full size sprints are crazier yet!
