Front Disc brakes tight

I installed a new front disc brake conversion set (rightstuff) and they are really tight on the rotors, is there a way to back them off or will they loosen with driving? Just got the car moving and working the bugs out. It saw daylight for the 1st time in over 7 years....
 
Can u spin the rotors/ or tires by hand? If not u may have a problem. If they do spin with a little then ur fine.
 
as said above,as long as you can turn fairly easy by hand try driving it a short distance(couple blocks)and check to see if the wheel is hot to the touch.if it is,you have a problem.if not,just let the pads were down a bit.also,watch for grabbing problems while braking.
 
I assume the system is new? If they are too tight, pull the calipers up and using a C clamp, open the bleeder and move the piston/pad back a bit. You don't have to open the bleeder much. I like to put a little pressure on the pads then crack open the bleeder. If they end up being too tight again, the piston o-ring might be installed backwards. It's not exactly round and is designed to help pull the piston back just enough to keep them from being tight. It's a square cut but not exactly square either. If that's ok, then you may have to look at the master or proportioning valve.
 
Ok, I was able to spin the tire. It does rub slightly though. I will watch them and do what "cranky" said if they don't loosen up.....Thanks..
 
One thing that might be an issue is "what is your master cylinder?"

If you are using a DRUM brake master, you probably will need to remove the residual pressure valve which feeds the disk brakes. You can determine this by jacking up the front and applying the brakes hard, then releasing, and see how difficult the tire turns. Then crack the bleeder and see if any pressure is released, turn the tire, and see if it's now easier.

All pads "drag" a little The only thing which retracts them is what little bit the seal in the caliper moves when pressure is released.

You can thread a small sheet metal screw into the brass piece that is a light press fit in the rear of the fitting and pull it out with vise grips, etc: remove the valve and spring, and replace the brass piece, which forms the seat (seal) for the fitting.
