So I picked up some new Reybestos 11" shoes, when matching them up I. noticed the metal was the same but the primary shoe is 1/2 inch shorter and the lining is positioned closer to the bottom of the metal near the adjuster then the one I'm taking off. The secondary is a little longer but pretty close to original lining. What do u think guys. Metal is identical.

If I read it correctly.should be OK. Sounds like they are bonded linings not riveted. The lining worker got the position off while gluing them up. 1/2'' shouldn't cause a problem.

Thanx, concerned with the position of the lining on the primary side vs. the ones I'm taking off

In my build thread here I have real NOS front and rear shoes....that's how they were for years....

Got it Moparnation 74, I was just concerned with why there was such a difference in the POSITION of the lining on the primary side when both sets of linings (new and old) were bonded. It's all good thanks for the info. Time to assemble and inspect., Hopefully pass the emissions.

Always refer to the service manual it clarifies a lot...

I will admit it does look strange if you never ran into it before.....

Funny thing about that I've had my service manual out and open and READ forever. (As well as 2 or 3 other sources of printed page). I must not be explaining the problem correctly. But no problems Darter6 nailed it and just for laughs I took the whole mess over to Herbs and he found it pretty interesting as well. Hey Darter6 he agreed with u. But no matter the friction surface is the same just a placed a little lower than originals.
You know what they say "Build your Library before your Car"

A man once told me "Keep guessing till you get it right". Not often do I get it right the first time !
