Front suspension upgrade. What to use?

The front suspension is worn out in my 65 Coronet. Pulled it all out and started inspecting it. One of the upper control arms has a crack in it. Wondering if I should buy new stock upper control arms or tubular ones. Should the lower control arm be replaced? Mine look good and do not have any damage. I also see that there are adjustable strut rods.

Go with tubular upper's, upgrade to 11/16 tie rods and sleeves, rubber bushing's on the lower control arms, get the plate that welds to the lower control arm (that will stiffen the lower control up ALOT), adjustable strut rods will work great, and finally a good set of shocks.

Agreed. Got mine from PST, a vendor here for the UCA's. Then Bilsteins.

First what do you plan to do with your car ? If you are looking for a nice cruising vehicle I would replace the upper arms and rebuild the front end with either polygraphite or rubber bushings and install bilstein shocks. If you want a car with a more of a modern feel and responsiveness then I would recommend the following. Tubular upper arms. lower control arm rebuilding kits, 1.03" torsion bars, and a set of bilstiens.

I just ordered some bilsteins and stiffening plates from PST,can you put the plates on lca's with them being on the car?

I normally do them out of the car with the pivot shaft removed and lower control bushing out and the arms glass beaded and rust free. I guess you could try doing them on your back in the car. The biggest issue would be the heat from welding compromising the bushing and causing premature failure. So I would not suggest doing it that way.

New Shocks

I am considering Bilstein shocks for my Roadrunner but was wondering if they come with boot covers for the top of the shocks like the stock shocks.

Not a bad set of ideas, but these UCAs are just steel. They can be welded and still retain their strength.
