Ill post a pic tomorrow after I actually have time to even see my car.

That being said I need some guidance on how to remove the top piece or chrome (or whatever it is) trim that runs horizontally from driver to passenger side.

It looks to be impregnated into the windshield seal (as it buts up against the vinyl top or roof)

I need to take this off it has some imperfections I want to deal with.

Anyone know how to get this off or provide input?

It is held on with a clip(s) that look quite similar to these.
You need to get a plastic object with flat end or point and simply and gently pry. It will come loose.
Rust over the years may give you a bit of a fight, but it is only in there via pressure by the clip.

Ok I got it off without damage. Gonna upload some pics and narrative once I get to a computer and not on my phone

Trick is to lift the chrome from the inside the part that lays facing the window and sneak in there with a bright light and spot the clips. When you do there is a little lip in the trim that snaps under the clips. You pry the clips open to release this pressure.

I also used blue magic polish to get the stainless shiny after removing some overspray. My front window leaks from the car sitting in a barn in the desert for 15 years. I only noticed it when I washed it lucky for me the car never got wet it always stayed in the barn on a chicken farm in the valley

Did you actually see the water coming in around the windshield? These cars also leak around the windshield wiper post that sticks up through the cowl. The seal is not great and dries out.

Nice car BTW.
Cheers
Jeff

It is the windshield seal.

But I also have new wiper pivot seals as well.

That will all go in at once but its low on the priority list Im at a cross roads with this car right now.

I enjoy driving it so much
