carbs

Not sure if you know what you have there or not.
The intake speaks for itself. Original and correct on a $60,000 restored B/E Body.
The carbs are a different story, and an interesting one as well. They were first designed by Holley and sold to Ford for their 390-406 Tri Power engines. After Holley fulfilled their commitment to Ford, they actively marketed the carbs to GM and Chrysler who both had current 3x2 setups on production cars. 67-69 Corvette and 69-71 6 Pack cars
GM was not interested, but Ford made Chrysler a deal they could not refuse, so Ma Mopar decided to market these through Direct Connection over the counter as HP replacement carbs for the performance crowd. They are almost 1400CFM compared to stock 6 pak carbs at 1325 CFM. They use mechanical linkage not vacuum to open the end carbs. They also have side hung float bowls and the end carbs have accellerator pumps and power valves. They were never standard equipment on any production Mopar, thus incorrect for most resto projects, and were intended only for the hobbiest or serious Super Stock racer, when matched with a Weiand tunnel Ram 3x2 intake also sold by DC. I think the carbs were around 400 a set and the intake 250.
Setting current value on the carbs is tough as they are not correct on a 60,000$ resto, but are still worth something for the performance enthusiast. Core price for complete restorable carbs is between 100 and 150 each, maybe more if in mint condition according to carb restoration shops - somewhat less than original 6 pak carbs. Understandable as 6 pak carbs will wind up on 60,000$ cars and these will not. Recoloring carb bodies and replating linkage along with a rebuild and dialing them in runs 6-700 a set for either set up.
So, since new six pack carbs can be had for 1200 or so brand new, I would think these carbs restored would be worth somewhat less than 1200 or so.
Just one mans opinion.....whats yours......?
