I’ll need to tackle my fuel tank and its lines soon enough. My 73’ 318 had a fuel vapor separator 4 tube type* that I’m pretty sure is no longer useable (rusted). I’ll share a picture below. My tank had the 4 vent pipes as well. There is a charcoal canister in my engine bay as well. I did convert from a 2 barrel carb to 4 if that makes any difference. When I search for a separator I only see option for the second picture below. I’m sure there’s a way to bypass this as most of these things were for emissions of the era. What are my options for fuel transfer to my pump/carb/canister? I’ve seen 2 vent tanks not sure if it would fit or how to set it up removal of this or that. I appreciate the knowledge. Thanks

I just installed that same black vapor separator in my '70 Charger 383 Magnum this summer, after installing a new fuel tank and lines. I originally only had the stock 5/16" fuel line from tank to fuel pump, and the standard in-line fuel filter with only one-in/one-out (to the carb) ports. The vapor separator has a 3/8" inlet and a 1/4" outlet on the bottom. You need to add a 1/4" fuel return line that goes back to the sending unit in your fuel tank. Hopefully your current sender has both fuel and return line tubes; if not, you'll need to replace the sending unit with one that has fuel and return line ports.

These were used to prevent vapor lock; I'm not sure how much of a problem that was with 318 cars, though...
