Just wanted to say I have been looking at what all the other guy's have here and will say I want one of each. LOL. It is going to take time to look through all of these and will get to each and every one in time. I do have a Runner in restore progress. It takes a lot of time to restore these car's. So my hat's off to you guy's that are doing the work on them. Enjoying the site and love all the fantastic car's I am seeing.

Hey, a belated welcome @blue69runner!

You have quite a accomplished build there yourself. Nice job

I've seen some cars on here that looked so bad the scrap yard wouldn't take them but they were resurrected and are beautiful now.

glad you're enjoying the site

Got ya Budnicks. Here is what went on today. Put the rear window in and put the trim on. It looked grate for about thirty minutes. Then POW. Looked up and this is what I saw. New window from AMD they just got them in. I am sick.

I posted pic in my garage. The car is not finished. So check it out.

Just wonder if any one has any Ideas on what the heck went wrong or suggestion's on what might I have done better on the install.

How did you install it? On the proper 3/8 butyl tape with rubber location spacers at the bottom per the FSM or???

Yes I used the Butyl. It went in really nice and plenty of gap. It seated well all the way around. Then filled the gap's with Urethane on the out side of the window. So water and trash would not sit in their. The trim pushed on with fingers. Not hard. This is the new batch from AMD. My old one was beyond repair. Like I said it sat their for thirty minutes then this happened.

Urethane? Allow it to dry overnight before installing the trim. Did you use a rubber mallet to set the trim pieces? We used to mark with tape where the clips were so that was the only points pressure was applied to. Maybe a burr on one of the trim pieces that caught the edge of the window and chipped it. Temp change and bad rabbit. Is that a spider pattern coming from the lower right, or just a reflection.

Sounds like you did it right so IDK what happened. Will think about it more.

Yes thought I had a good fit. No stress on the glass that I could see of. It might be the glass. Could not find any that where in good shape used. So with all the work on the car could not see my self putting an old scratched up back window in it. Thanks

Like Builderguy said - the straight lines from the lower right. Looks like the stress started in that bottom edge. Maybe AMD will work with you on a replacement?

I had that happen on an original rear window, installed perfectly with all factory service manual instructions from an experienced installer and it shattered a couple of days later sitting still. The glass had a couple of old scratches in it, superficial but just enough to stress it and explode and appeared to start in that area.

Well all I can think of is you had the wrong assistant and no I don't lend her out!

BTW, has AMD fixed their back glass to be the correct "three curve" glass and not a bubble like the one I got and returned?

OE glass is almost flat curving IN and back out.

When you get the trim off look to see if any metal is touching the edge of the glass. Tempered glass breaks very easy when hit on the edge.

I looked every where and don't see any thing touching the glass edge. Have a glass installer I know and he is going to help put the next one in. LOL. Thanks for the Idea.
