Gentlemen,

I replaced the entire fuel system on my 67 Coronet, Tank, Vent lines, Sending unit, Lines, Pump, Filter as I found the entire system had been clogged with rust.

The gas gauge never worked and the sender was rusted solid, when I replaced the sending unit the gas gauge worked for about a day then stopped again, I checked the wiring connections and they seem good.

Any other ideas?

i got the same problem replaced my tank and sending unit the old sending unit was about a 1/4 tank off(full tank only showed 3/4 full)brand new sending unit now gauge only moves off empty about 1/4",check your ground strap that goes from the sending unit to the steel line, you need a good ground from both steel parts because of the rubber hose connection.

i will check that also. new 1/2" sending unit, new 1/2" lines to pump, new high volume pump, new lines to carb and still works sometimes and sometimes not.
no rubber hose in system but many connections to different metals.:eusa_think:

A bad voltage limiter on the back side of you printed circut board for the dash will also dump the guage.

Like the other guys mentioned...Nice clean ground at the strap and clean at the connection.
