Gas Station Pumps from the 60's and 70's who has restored one?

Just curious if anyone has restored a gas station pump from the 60's or 70's. I have the opportunity to get one maybe two and its difficult finding information on them. I think it would be awesome to have a Texaco, Sinclair or Standard/Amaco 70's era pump in the garage!

It would appear that not a lot have been restored and the ones i find like on ebay, for some reason have the older visible gas pump toppers on them, which just looks stupid. So, if you have done one, I would be interested in seeing photos and what it takes to restore one for display purposes of course!

I have an old gas pump in my garage as well and want to restore it (plan is to just use the shell as a minibar). Try googling for Ljungmans pumps (Swedish gas pump which are often restored by the Swedes).

This one is completely original. Had to replace one of the round glass Power-X. Thanks to gaspumpheaven. Still has price of 26.9 gallon.

Do your research before you take the plunge.

Just like some car models, certain gas pump brand stuff is available in reproduction while other brands are not. I took an old generic Erie pump and made it into a Sinclair gas pump. The top globe is reproduced in plastic now while the originals were all glass. The decals are available via several places online, and the gas nozzle I got from Tractor Supply. Everything that says 'Dino' or 'Sinclair' was/is available in reproduction. The chrome pieces of the pump were sent out for re-chroming, so make sure your wallet is up to the task at hand. lol

I had a local auto body shop spray the green and white paint, and clear coat it because it sits out in the weather at my workshop. I added a photo cell and 2 led bulbs so the top globe and front panel light up at night from dusk till dawn. It's been a great conversion piece, especially when I have the price per gallon set to .35cents which is the cheapest I can remember my parents paying for gas in the mid to late 60's.

I did mine 5 years ago and did not have any problem finding anything for it. They are very heavy and taking out the pump and motor helps.

Very true re the weight of these! The pumps in them are all cast iron components, no steel, to prevent any potential explosions while moving the fuel. Remove the internal 'plumbing' as soon as you can to move the pump around a bit easier.

All very cool pumps, but I don't have the coin to put into one like you all have, I will be doing one like this, a lot less expensive to restore.

I didnt realize that i started this thread almost a year ago, but i got my pump this summer, and have already stripped it down and am now in the rebuild phase of this project. Its a Tokheim 1150 pump.

Here is the rebuild process so far, still lots to do! I got the front panels powder coated, and the resto of the parts were media blasted and i painted. They still make the stainless trim and panels so those will really make things pop once its all together. Just finished installing new panel locks and started on the large lettering. Hope to get the Veeder-root computer done in the next few days and get it installed with the computer covers. Stay tuned!

Getting closer to being done with this project, I just have to get a hose and there are a couple of graphics and the contains lead signs i need to rivet back on and it will be done.

I remember back in 1979 they had to go to liters at a few stations around here because the mechanical number pumps only went to 99.9c a gallon.

Nearing completion. Got my throwback lettering for the ad glass space, looks cool i think, this is a fantasy pump which most likely had the fuel type up top and nothing on the bottom, but i like the mix of old and new.
