gas tank filler neck help needed!

putting in a new gastank and filler neck, this is the filler neck seal i got , which side goes into the tank and which side faces the filler neck?? i am thinking that the side with numbers goes towards the tank and the rounded edge towards the filler??? the old one didnt have that extra rounded edge

my 2cents -the smaller or rounded end would be easier to enter the tank--got to do the same thing to my x --havn't got that far yet so your answer will help me--

Just did that a month ago...the edge with the numbers goes into the tank.
