Hello all ...

Does anyone by chance make a gauge panel for aftermarket gauges for a 68' RR ??

I saw a bird this weekend with a sweet gauge cluster, but he wasn't around to ask where or how he got it.

Thanks !!!

That's definitely something custom built probably just cut from aluminum or the like and bought off the shelf guages. That does look really good though and I like his steering wheel!

No-one makes something off the shelf for our generation of Roadrunner (everything is 71 and up or Rallye style guages)

I'm having Dakota Digital make me something custom out of a core I sent them. The end result will look something like this

I was actually just getting ready to make a post regarding what colors to choose when I saw your post

Cheers!

Here are the color options I'm struggling with right now. Originally I thought black with white to keep it classic but the Silver with Red looks awesome and the Red would set off the Hemi Orange well :)

Classic dash makes them for the rally dash. Not sure if if would work with the Road runner dash though. This is the dash I have in my charger. Take a little modification to work.

That steering wheel you have there. Is that mopar? I have 2 73 chargers that have that wheel but neither have the horn button. What horn button fits that wheel.

Thanks AJ the ones I have are wood but look the same as that. Thanks again

I did mine myself too,
I wanted that 60's-70's vintage vibe chrome bezels etc.
all Autometer stuff & angled pods, 5) x 2-1/16" gauges & 2) x 3-3/8" tach & Speedo
5/16" chrome bezel LED's different colors on the
turn indicators, oil warning lite, high beam light, e-brake lights
fabed up the full harness should be an easy install, "when I get to that point of the build"

about a 24" x 5" x 1/8" {or was it 0.090"} 1/2" 90* lip on the top
aluminum panel, hole-sawed, drilled & with crinkle black paint

68 RR, did a couple of them over the years,
I haven't installed the one in the photos yet, procrastination probably...

Where did you get the template Budnicks or did you make it yourself? That really looks professional and I would be interested in seeing/hearing a blow-by-blow of how you did it. Down the road I would like something like that and not in a financial position to afford the repop (if they make one?). Have seen OEM's posted for sale and that cost plus getting them refurbished plus gauges seems out of my budget. THX

I measured the existing area, then drew it to see what would fit on paper
allot easier to mess up paper, than aluminum...LOL & then when I got what I liked,
I fab-ed it up myself, I do everything myself usually
BUT; the total cost was like $700 {in 2005 prices/$'s} after all is done,
no labor costs & I had the wire already, $20 piece of Alum. @ local welding joint
I had the crinkle paint already, the gauges were the bulk of the cost & it ain't cheap either...

that was like the 3rd one I've done in 68-70 Mopars, vintage analog/race look
each was a little different # of gauges & sizes

Really no money for me to make them, not time really right now either...
If I did, I'd have to charge like $1200+ to make it worth my time,
not sure even then if I'd want to do it, unless I did a bunch at once,
to get a better price on materials, gauges, pods etc.

there's a thread somewhere on here, I tell the blow by blow on the details,
I can't remember the name of the thread or I'd post it...

I'll end up eventually probably selling my OE gauge cluster with opt. tach,
to recoup some of the build costs, maybe...LOL

Thank you sir, really appreciate the help. I am good with all types of metals and have done lay-out work on many different scales with tight tollerances. I may dig in and try and find that blow-by-blow you posted in the past to use as MY template. THX

I whipped this aluminum cluster up as a quick test piece for bead roller practice, and to test my gauge layout visibility. I like the bead rolling as a little nicer touch than gauges just sitting on top of a flat panel.

Open to doing custom dashes if anyone's interested. Once my gauge set gets here I'll do a final fit and finish piece with switch panel, mounting screw holes, etc for everyone to check out

How many gauges do you need?

Places on it for turn signals and warning / bright indicators? Looks good!

You mean on mine Jeepers? Going to go with colored single LED's, green turn signals, blue high beam, red brake warning. And thanks! Still think I'm gonna go with a carbon panel for my car, but now I know aluminum's an option at least haha

Wow...this gives me an awesome idea for my door panels. Thanks! Oh and that looks great too!
