Gauge restore

What do you guys use to clean the gauges
When you first started your restore.
Rust off the faces or did you buy new
Gauges.
 
If you want to do them yourself you need to take them apart and remove all the rust and paint from the faces, then seal them with some black paint and apply decals to them and paint the needles and they will look new again.
If they all work properly this is the least expensive way.

I don't know anything about the quality of the reproduction gauges, maybe someone will comment on that.

I did mine recently but I had no rust issues, cleaned the faces with alcohol, re-calibrated all, then polished the plastic lens. It made a huge difference as they where basically untouched since 1970.
