I've been looking for a set of General Lee style wheels for my 1968 Charger. I've found a few 14" sets but it was harder to find a 15" set. I've finally found this set. It's a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. The front's are 15x8 and the backs are 15x9. I don't know the back spacing but I'm hoping they will fit. The seller said they were off a early to mid 70s Ford Ranchero. I've looked at the picture and compared it to pictures of Chargers with these wheels and the rims look correct, but to be fair I've never had a set of these wheels before so I wanted to ask the group if there looked like there would be any issues with these wheels either from the information I've shared or from the picture? Thanks so much.

Those will fit just fine.
The 14” ones are pretty hard to find nowadays so if you come across them, you should scoop them up. American Racing had been reproducing them for years in 15x7 and 15x8.5. However I think quite recently they have discontinued production.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea on what these should go for? I know the 14" sets I've seen here in California have been around $500. There may be cheaper sets around the country but I'm focusing on California so I don't have to pay shipping which would be expensive.

As I recall, the repros were somewhere between 200-250 Canadian. Not a particularly expensive wheel. That being said, 500 US would be reasonable for a set in good condition.

I bought those repros from summit just last summer, you can see them in my icon image. I'd imagine they are still available.

Looks like a set of 15x7 and 15x8.5 from Summit is about $775 with tax (free shipping). The set I found the seller agreed to $500 (local pick up) in size 15x8 and 15x9. A $275 savings and wider for a larger rear tire...but used.

I like how the used set have a deeper dish on the 15x9s, the re pops add any extra width to the inside. I have the new ones and that's the only thing I would change about them.

Will 15x8 fit on the front of a 68 Charger? Might depend on what kind of brakes (track width), but I think it'll be very close if it does clear. Also, do they come with center caps? That's probably $100 minimum plus the frustration of finding ones that fit. Plus they need cleaned and painted. Still seems like a fair price though. Having said that, my vote is for the reproductions.

I'd double check on how the seller is measuring the rims. Proper method is bead to bead, not overall width. You might find they are 15x7 and 15x8.
And I would never buy rims without KNOWING the backspace measurement. (front and rear!). If that rear rim is truly 15x9, it needs about 5" of backspace if you truly want big tires on it. 4" backspace or less will not fit anything but a pickup truck .
You do know how to measure bs, right? Make sure the seller does too!

To add what 33 imp said, if you are not going to pick them up in person, or even if you are, have the guy take a picture of the tape measure on the wheels, or see if it is stamped anywhere. It will help make sure he’s measuring correctly and you won’t get the wrong wheels. I got burned on a set of keystones on eBay, the seller claimed to be 15 x 8s, 15 x 7 was stamped on the wheels

Thanks for the suggestions. I would be picking these up in person. I do know how to measure back spacing and I did send the seller a message to measure that for me as well as send me any pictures of size stampings on the wheels. We will see what he sends and I will let the group know.

The seller took some more pictures for me. Turns out the rims are actually 15x7 and 15x8.5 as stamped on the inside. The back spacing is 3.5".
So, not sure if these will fit. 33 IMP says I need 4" back spacing or more. Please advise.

Most b-bodies like 4.5" backspace on an 8-8.5" rim.
With the nice big open rear wheelwell openings on a gen2 charger, you might get away with 3.5, but you might have to lift the a$$ end more than you would like.
I have two pair of 15x8 1/2 wheels (ancient ansen five spokes, and American daisies) with 3 5/8 backspace, and they won't fit on anything I own with proper size tires. Not enough backspace.
8 1/2 rim should have a 255 or more tire. I had 225s on my 8.5 daisies, and they still wouldn't fit on my 55 chevy.
It now has 255x17s on a 17x8.5 rim with 4.5 backspace (zero "offset") that fit like a glove.
