This is a one owner car with the original paint. It's has the original 383 with auto with 323 posi. So far it looks like a solid car. Here's some pictures before I start taking it apart.

A few more. I'm thinking about doing a 451 with this one for more header clearance.

Wow, Looks like a great base to start with. I dont see any rust anywhere. Looks very solid. Keep us posted on progress.

Thats a great looking car there, I would be real tempted into driving that a summer as is!! Good luck its a beauty for sure..

I was first thinking about going with more of a solid moroon like the chevy 1962 Honduras Maroon but now I'm thinking about staying with the original dark red metallic paint. I want something that really pop with the gray torq thrust wheels. My painter can't get too my car for 6 months so I have plenty time to decide. Taking out the k-member with the engine and trans today.

The body looks great , It looks like a great car to begin with, good luck on your project, keep us posted... The 451 is a good idea, "but" you could just build a decent 0.03" over bore 383 block w/3.75" stroke 440 crank turn down to between 7.125"-7.250" counter weight diameter & have the mains turned to the proper diameter also, so it will fit in a B-series block, you would get 432ci out of your 383 & be just as good (Shy 19ci though) as the 451ci/400 base B-engine & you will be able maintain the original 383 numbers matching block.... Check Mancini Racing or 440source.com for full piston, rod, crankshaft & ready to drop in kits

I thought about using the 383 instead of a 400 and I may do that. I'm sure you're right about seeing little different between the two.

This project has been waiting for 2 years. Got the k member out and powder coated. Been scraping undercoating off for a few months. I have decided to keep the 383 and stroke it. I fitted the wheels before I took it apart. I guess I was a little burnt out after building the black car. After buying the 67 GTX and 70 RR projects the 66 got put on the back burner.
